4：2你们原晓得我们凭主耶稣传给你们什么命令。
For ye know what mandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus。
4：3神的旨意就是要你们成为圣洁，远避淫行。
For this is the will of God； even your sanctification； that ye should abstain from fornication：
4：4要你们各人晓得怎样用圣洁尊贵，守着自己的身体。
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour；
4：5不放纵私欲的邪情，像那不认识神的外邦人。
Not in the lust of concupiscence； even as the Gentiles which know not God：
4：6不要一个人在这事上越分，欺负他的弟兄。因为这一类的事，主必报应，正如我豫先对你们说过，又切切嘱咐你们的。
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter： because that the Lord is the avenger of all such； as we also have forewarned you and testified。
4：7神召我们，本不是要我们沾染污秽，乃是要我们成为圣洁。
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness； but unto holiness。
4：8所以那弃绝的，不是弃绝人，乃是弃绝那赐圣灵给你们的神。
He therefore that despiseth； despiseth not man； but God； who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit。
4：9论到弟兄们相爱，不用人写信给你们，因为你们自己蒙了神的教训，叫你们彼此相爱。
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you： for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another。
4：10你们向马其顿全地的众弟兄，固然是这样行，但我劝弟兄们要更加勉励。
And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia： but we beseech you； brethren； that ye increase more and more；
4：11又要立志作安静人，办自己的事，亲手作工，正如我们从前所吩咐你们的。
And that ye study to be quiet； and to do your own business； and to work with your own hands； as we manded you；
4：12叫你们可以向外人行事端正，自己也就没有什么缺乏了。
That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without； and that ye may have lack of nothing。
4：13论到睡了的人，我们不愿意弟兄们不知道，恐怕你们忧伤，像那些没有指望的人一样。
But I would not have you to be ignorant； brethren； concerning them which are asleep； that ye sorrow not； even as others which have no hope。
4：14我们若信耶稣死而复活了，那已经在耶稣里睡了的人，神也必将他与耶稣一同带来。
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again； even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him。
4：15我们现在照主的话告诉你们一件事。我们这活着还存留到主降临的人，断不能在那已经睡了的人之先。
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord； that we which are alive and remain unto the ing of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep。
4：16因为主必亲自从天降临，有呼叫的声音，和天使长的声音，又有神的号吹响。那在基督里死了的人必先复活。
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout； with the voice of the archangel； and with the trump of God： and the dead in Christ shall rise first：
4：17以后我们这活着还存留的人，必和他们一同被提到云里，在空中与主相遇。这样，我们就要和主永远同在。
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds； to meet the Lord in the air： and so shall we ever be with the Lord。
4：18所以你们当用这些话彼此劝慰。
Wherefore fort one another with these words。

5：1弟兄们，论到时候日期，不用写信给你们。
But of the times and the seasons； brethren； ye have no need that I write unto you。
5：2因为你们自己明明晓得，主的日子来到，好像夜间的贼一样。
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so eth as a thief in the night。
5：3人正说平安稳妥的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同叁难临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。
For when they shall say； Peace and safety； then sudden destruction eth upon them； as travail upon a woman with child； and they shall not escape。
5：4弟兄们，你们却不在黑暗里，叫那日子临到你们像贼一样。
But ye； brethren； are not in darkness； that that day should overtake you as a thief。
5：5你们都是光明之子，都是白昼之子，我们不是属黑夜的，也不是属幽暗的。
Ye are all the children of light； and the children of the day： we are not of the night； nor of darkness。
5：6所以我们不要睡觉，像别人一样，总要儆醒谨守。
Therefore let us not sleep； as do others； but let us watch and be sober。
5：7因为睡了的人是在夜间睡。醉了的人是在夜间醉。
For they that sleep sleep in the night； and they that be drunken are drunken in the night。
5：8但我们既然属乎白昼，就应当谨守，把信和爱当作护心镜遮胸。把得救的盼望当作头盔戴上。
But let us； who are of the day； be sober； putting on the breastplate of faith and love； and for an helmet； the hope of salvation。
5：9因为神不是豫定我们受刑，乃是豫定我们藉着我们主耶稣基督得救。
For God hath not appointed us to wrath； but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ；
5：10他替我们死，叫我们无论醒着睡着，都与他同活。
Who died for us； that； whether we wake or sleep； we should live together with him。
5：11所以你们该彼此劝慰，互相建立，正如你们素常所行的。
Wherefore fort yourselves together； and edify one another； even as also ye do。
5：12弟兄们，我们劝你们敬重那在你们中间劳苦的人，就是在主里面治理你们，劝戒你们的。
And we beseech you； brethren； to know them which labour among you； and are over you in the Lord； and admonish you；
5：13又因他们所作的工，用爱心格外尊重他们，你们也要彼此和睦。
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake。 And be at peace among yourselves。
5：14我们又劝弟兄们，要警戒不守规矩的人。勉励灰心的人。扶助软弱的人。也要向众人忍耐。
Now we exhort you； brethren； warn them that are unruly； fort the feebleminded； support the weak； be patient toward all men。
5：15你们要谨慎，无论是谁都不可以恶报恶。或是彼此相待，或是待众人，常要追求良善。
See that none render evil for evil unto any man； but ever follow that which is good； both among yourselves； and to all men。
5：16要常常喜乐。
Rejoice evermore。
5：17不住的祷告。
Pray without ceasing。
5：18凡事谢恩。因为这是神在基督耶稣里向你们所定的旨意。
In every thing give thanks： for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you。
5：19不要销灭圣灵的感动。
Quench not the Spirit。
5：20不要藐视先知的讲论。
Despise not prophesyings。
5：21但要凡事察验。善美的要持守。
Prove all things； hold fast that which is good。
5：22各样的恶事要禁戒不作。
Abstain from all appearance of evil。
5：23愿赐平安的神，亲自使你们全然成圣。又愿你们的灵，与魂，与身子，得蒙保守，在我主耶稣基督降临的时候，完全无可指摘。
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly； and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the ing of our Lord Jesus Christ。
5：24那召你们的本是信实的，他必成就这事。
Faithful is he that calleth you； who also will do it。
5：25请弟兄们为我们祷告。
Brethren； pray for us。
5：26与众弟兄亲嘴问安务要圣洁。
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss。
5：27我指着主嘱咐你们，要把这信念给众弟兄听。
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren。
5：28愿我主耶稣基督的恩常与你们同在。
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you。 Amen。

1：1保罗，西拉，提摩太，写信给帖撒罗尼迦在神我们的父，与主耶稣基督里的教会。
Paul； and Silvanus； and Timotheus； unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ：
1：2愿恩惠平安，从父神和主耶稣基督，归与你们。
Grace unto you； and peace； from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ。
1：3弟兄们，我们该为你们常常感谢神，这本是合宜的。因你们的信心格外增长，并且你们众人彼此相爱的心也都充足。
We are bound to thank God always for you； brethren； as it is meet； because that your faith groweth exceedingly； and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth；
1：4甚至我们在神的各教会里为你们夸口，都因你们在所受的一切逼迫患难中，仍旧存忍耐和信心。
So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure：
1：5这正是神公义判断的明证。叫你们可算配得神的国，你们就是为这国受苦。
Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God； that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God； for which ye also suffer：
1：6神既是公义的，就必将患难报应那加患难给你们的人。
Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to repense tribulation to them that trouble you；
1：7也必使你们这受患难的人，与我们同得平安。那时，主耶稣同他有能力的天使从天上在火焰中显现，
And to you who are troubled rest with us； when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels；
1：8要报应那不认识神，和那不听从我主耶稣福音的人。
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God； and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ：
1：9他们要受刑罚，就是永远沉沦，离开主的面和他权能的荣光。
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord； and from the glory of his power；
1：10这正是主降临要在他圣徒的身上得荣耀，又在一切信的人身上显为希奇的那日子。（我们对你们作的见证，你们也信了。）
When he shall e to be glorified in his saints； and to be admired in all them that believe （because our testimony among you was believed） in that day。
1：11因此，我们常为你们祷告，愿我们的神看你们配得过所蒙的召。又用大能成就你们一切所羡慕的良善，和一切因信心所作的工夫。
Wherefore also we pray always for you； that our God would count you worthy of this calling； and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness； and the work of faith with power：
